Lottomatica and Fondazione Lottomatica race together to fight breast cancer. Over 100 employees of the group and representatives of the foundation participated on Sunday 7th May in the final day of the “Race for the cure” in Rome, the race organised by the social promotion association, Komen Italia, which has become a symbol of the fight against breast cancer. The event, which began on Thursday 4th May with the inauguration of the Health Village at the Circus Maximus, was divided into four days open to all citizens characterised by numerous free initiatives dedicated to sport, healthy nutrition, wellbeing and entertainment to promote health, prevention and solidarity.
The initiative took place under the High Patronage of the President of the Republic and with the sponsorship and participation of the country’s main institutions to celebrate the real protagonists of the event, the Women in Pink, who are facing or have faced breast cancer. Thanks to their courageous testimonies and the sharing of their experiences, during these years they have been able to contribute incisively to public awareness activities on the importance of early diagnosis and the cultural change that has taken place in the approach to the disease, giving strength and hope to the 56,000 women who face breast cancer every year in Italy.
The race that took place yesterday morning, the most important moment of the 4 days and which was held in Rome, included the traditional 2 km walk, the 5 km race open to all and also an 8 km route reserved for competitive athletes starting from via Petroselli through the streets of the centre of the capital.

“We are really happy that again this year so many colleagues have decided to participate in the Race for the cure: health protection, commitment to sport and solidarity are part of our company’s DNA,” commented Giuseppina Falcucci, Chief People Officer of the Lottomatica Group. . “People are at the heart of our projects, our priorities and our futures,” said Riccardo Capecchi, president of the Lottomatica Foundation, who was present at the race, adding: “On the other hand, the foundation pursues the very objective of contributing concretely to improving the social reality in which it operates.”
