On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Penitentiary Ordinance presented at the Velletri Prison House “Ripartenze: Riprendiamoci il futuro”, the initiative that is offering vocational training and job accompaniment paths to adults involved in judicial proceedings.

Restoring dignity through work: this is the goal of“Ripartenze: Riprendiamoci il Futuro,” the project funded by Lottomatica Foundation, and implemented by ELIS, in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice.

The project

The initiative involves inmates of the Velletri Penitentiary Institute, engaged in paths to become Green Area Maintainers and Plant Operators, with placements in AVR Group Spa in the South Rome and Guidonia areas.

Along with technical preparation, “Departures” also provides support to the organizations that will host the project recipients. Specifically, in the form of assistance in personnel selection, management of relations with institutions, and a specific module aimed at trainers and other employees.

Initial testimonies collected confirm the effectiveness of the approach. Some participants highlighted the value of the socialization experience and the possibility of regaining confidence, in part through confrontation with the external environment and the group. Others stressed the importance of the practical dimension and the welcome they received in the workplace, elements that helped strengthen organizational skills and awareness of their abilities.

Thanks to the collaboration between the Lottomatica Foundation, ELIS and the Ministry of Justice, the project confirms that work inclusion is a key step in fostering personal redemption and full social integration.
