110 years young!
The Italian Foreign Press Association celebrated its 110th anniversary this year
It was the year 1912 when 14 journalists from six different countries, met in Venice to form the first team that would later become a real association, the largest of its kind in the world. Since then, of course, things have changed a lot, as the association now includes 400 correspondents from 54 countries, representing more than 800 media. The association achieved this milestone on 10th October in Rome, during an evening organised at the Baths of Diocletian, in the presence of Italy’s President Sergio Mattarella.
The initiative was the perfect opportunity to present the documentary on the 110 years of the association. Entitled “La storia siamo (anche) noi” [We are (also) history] by the director Diana Ferrero, the film was co-produced by the Lottomatica Foundation and a number of other partners. A choral, multi-voice account of the on-the-ground reports, scoops and challenges faced by some of Rome’s most charismatic foreign correspondents, from the big-name reporters columnists on historic newspapers to the young freelancers striving to find their place. The trailer for the documentary is available at the following link.
