Culture, when the Constitution is the protagonist

Culture, when the Constitution is the protagonist

Four meetings, at the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome, to talk about the Italian Constitution from a particular visual angle, that represented by constitutional duties. Here is the initiative entitled “Dialogues on law”, promoted by Il Mulino with the constitutionalist Alfonso Celotto

The Constitution is made up not only of rights, but also of duties, which constitute an absolutely fundamental part of it. The 2023 edition of the initiative entitled “I dialoghi sul diritto” unfolds around this common thread, scheduled at the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome, which takes place on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of our fundamental charter.

The event, organized and promoted by Il Mulino, is divided into four distinct events introduced and moderated by Alfonso Celotto, professor of Constitutional Law at the University of Roma Tre and member of the Advisory Board of the Lottomatica Foundation. Four meetings in fact, each of which dedicated to a different article of the Constitution explained and commented by an important guest from the Italian political, economic and academic panorama: the former Minister of Territorial Cohesion Fabrizio Barca will talk about constitutional duties and tasks starting from article 3 of the Constitution, the former Minister of Economy and Finance Giulio Tremonti on the age of de-globalization on the basis of article 1, the vice-president emeritus of the Consulta Enzo Cheli regarding the constitutional duties that arise from article 2 and, finally, the deputy vice-president of Coni Silvia Salis on work, women and inclusion in light of article 4.

The series of meetings also draws inspiration from the thoughts and words of Pietro Calamandrei, jurist and constituent father, who pronounced a highly evocative phrase on the topic: “The Constitution is not a machine that once set in motion goes forward by itself. You have to take your own responsibility into it”. The readings that are broadcast during the debates are curated by the actress Gaia Messerklinger.

The initiative “Dialoghi sul diritto” is promoted and organized with the contribution of BPER Banca and the Lottomatica Foundation.
