The new basketball court at the Secondigliano Penitentiary Center in Naples has been inaugurated. An initiative resulting from the collaboration between the Italian Basketball Federation (FIP), the nonprofit association Seconda Chance and the Lottomatica Foundation

The Penitentiary Center “Pasquale Mandato” in Secondigliano, Naples, has a new basketball court: the inauguration of the playground, renovated by the Italian Basketball Federation (FIP) with the participation of Lottomatica Foundation and the collaboration of the nonprofit association Second Chance, was held following a press conference held inside the prison.

The project was initiated last autumn, the construction started in mid-February, and was completed by mid-March. The first part of the work, which involved removing debris and weeds from the field, was carried out by some of the very inmates of the Secondigliano Institute.

The colors chosen for the court were Light Blue, in homage to all Italian national teams, and Orange, the color of the basketball. The presentation press conference was attended by the president of FIP Giovanni Petrucci, the head of the Department of Prison Administration. Giovanni Russo, superintendent of the Campania Region Lucia Castellano, Secondigliano Institute director Giulia Russo, Lottomatica external relations director and Lottomatica Foundation board member Gennaro Schettino, and Seconda Chance association president Flavia Filippi.
