Digital inclusion, Lottomatica Foundation promotes digital literacy for the over-65s
The “Digitalmente attivi” project is born thanks to the collaboration between Lottomatica Foundation e Longevitas Foundation, with the aim of promoting digital literacy among the over-65s. An essential path to combat social marginalization and foster a more active and participatory role of the elderly within the community, contributing to healthy and conscious longevity.
The project involves five regions (Lazio, Umbria, Marche, Abruzzo and Tuscany) where digital training meetings will be organized within social centers for the elderly, institutions and social promotion associations. These meetings, lasting 4 hours, 2 of which will be dedicated to interactive workshops, will be held in different cities and will aim to provide useful tools increase the skills needed to more easily use digital tools such as smartphones and tablets, thus to improve daily life.
The initiative aims to encourage access to new forms of socialization and information through proper use of the web, apps and social media, as well as to raise awareness of the prevention of online scams, a phenomenon that is on the rise. In fact, according to research by the Bicocca University of Milan, two out of ten seniors have been victims of financial abuse and scams.
“Digitalmente attivi” represents an opportunity to break down digital barriers and provide seniors with new opportunities to connect, grow and protect, thus contributing to a more inclusive and safe society.
“With ‘Digitalmente attivi,’ we aim to create an ecosystem in which people over 65 can leverage technologies to strengthen their independence and social participation, actively contributing to community life. We are convinced that promoting dialogue between generations through technology can lead to a more cohesive and interconnected society, enhancing the role of everyone. All this is possible thanks to the support of Lottomatica Foundation, which shares with us the vision of a more inclusive society and connected,” says Eleonora Selvi, president of Longevitas Foundation.
“We are inaugurating an exciting new journey, together with the Longevitas Foundation, to build a more inclusive society, where technology is a bridge capable of connecting generations, enabling older people, the true repositories of knowledge and wisdom, to interact with younger people. Promoting digital literacy among people over 65 means helping them to be more autonomous and integrated, reducing the risk of social isolation.”- explains Riccardo Capecchi, President of Lottomatica Foundation.
“La formazione pratica sull’uso di smartphone e tablet, unita alla sensibilizzazione contro le truffe online, incide direttamente sulla sicurezza e sul benessere degli anziani. Formazione e educazione sono, infatti, i pilastri fondamentali sui quali Fondazione Lottomatica costruisce le proprie iniziative, con l’obiettivo di valorizzare le capacità e l’esperienza di ciascun individuo, inclusi gli appartenenti alla terza età.”
